And you don't even need the pictures of him in his red pajamas......but it does not hurt......definite doucheking finalist. Actually, I think the Doucheking award goes to the Caps organization. Their douche factor starts at the top, permeates management, the team, and definitely the fan base. I love you guys, you truly make me smile!

Green-Doucheking?
On a team loaded with douches, I am beginning to lean heavily towards Mike Green as the DoucheKing. Semin is a candidate, but one mostly feels sorry for a "man" who fights like a little girl in the second grade. Ovechkin gets a lot of votes, he is for certain some kind of ass clown. Brucie Boohoo gets plenty too. Between the sauce on his face for episode one of 24/7, his red pajamas he wore, his epic gut and endless pencentric whining, I give him MANY first place votes..........but, he is also kind of just, well pathetic. But #52, he is a true douche. Any man who rides a vespa to his job in slippers, KNOWING that he is being filmed.........douche. A hockey player who grabs his face and whimpers after any contact, real or imagined? Douche. A guy who looks to the heavens after scoring a second period goal in a regular season game in December......douche..........what do you think? Ovie? Seminbreath? Green? BooHoo?

Streak ends, Pens lose, DiPietro, Kenopka-GAY
Pens guilty of looking past the Islanders, and lose in a shootout. They do manage a point in the standings, so all is not lost. Isles think they won the cup.....DiPietro playing in his 5th game in 10 years has a haircut like a douche, and well, he is a douche. As is Kenopka. Time to take out the trash again. See ya from the Classic.

Pens rebound and beat Atlanta 6-3
This was not the start the Pens wanted. Thank Marc Andre Fleury for keeping the Penguins in this game during the first period as the Pens started very sloppy again tonight. Add Crosby's two goals and somehow the Pens get out of the first period even. Then they tilted the ice and took the game away to improve their record to 25-11-2, first in the conference, and first in the league in wins. First, good game by Cooke, he took three "penalties" but also chipped in a great assist short handed after stealing the puck behind the net and setting up Adams for a rare goal, and adding a late goal. The penalty kill was strong giving up one goal in 8 tries including two 5 extended five on threes, and adding a short handed goal at a critical time in the game. Now to Crosby.......his 25 game scoring streak has netted him 26 goals and 24 assists for a total of 50 points. That is 2 points per game for those of you who are a bit slow. With 38 games played (3 short of midseason) Crosby leads the league in points with 65, goals with 32, and +/- with a + 21. He is also winning faceoffs at a 55.8% clip and is third in shooting percentage with 21.1%, and second is assists with 33. His current scoring streak of 25 games is the longest since the lockout, and 11th longest in NHL history. He has 3 or more points in 7 of the 25 games during the streak. He is 3 games shy of Lemieux's second longest scoring streak of 28 games, but a ways away from the franchise record of 42 held by Lemieux. The Penguins are 19-5-1 during the streak....can you say MVP?? Aside from the Crosby storyline, I liked the Pens getting some secondary scoring with goals by Kunitz, Letestu, Cooke, and Adams. Now to avoid the classic trap game tomorrow against a weak divsional rival right before the Winter Classic. Take the 2 points tomorrow night, and go into the Classic with some momentum!
I did a little more homework to see where the Pens stack up in vital statistics v the conference and league so here goes:
First in wins with 25 and in points with 52. The Pens are now 9-1 against the Southern Division this season. The team has balance, as they are second in the Conference and fifth in the league with 3.21 goals per game, second only to Philadelphia at 3.28. In goals against they are 3rd in the conference, and 4th in the league with 2.34 goals against per game, behind Montreal and Boston in the East. Their penalty kill at 87.3% is second in the league and the conference, as is their plus/minus at +27. So the Penguins are top 2 to 5 in the LEAGUE in most categories, and top 2 or 3 in the conference. Their one area that remains mediocre is the power play, which defines mediocre by being 15th of 30 in the league, and 8th of 15 in the conference. This is a key area for improvement for the Pens. Finally, scoring first matters to this team as they are 16-3 for an .842 winning percentage when they score first, and they are 9-8-2 for a .474 winning percentage when they trail at first.

Pens miss half the game, and lose to Ottawa
These games happen during the course of a season. The Pens no show for the first half of the game, fall down 3-0, wake up furiously battle back, but get stoned by a hot goaltender. The good news is that Crosby extends his scoring streak to 24 games, and hits the 30 goal at the earliest point in his career. Crosby has 30 goals in 37 games, and is pacing for 66 on the season. That would be a great number for so many reasons. Last season, his best goal scoring season ever, where he finished tied for the Rocket Richard trophy with 51 goals, found Crosby netting his 30th goal during his 47th game, so he is ten games ahead of his best year. In 05-06 it took him 63 games, in 06-07 it took him 68 games, and in 08-09 it took him 72 games, so the Kid is on one hellacious goal scoring pace! Let' s get back on the winning track tomorrow night at the igloo boys.

Penguins took out the TRASH
It was so nice to see the Pens shut those bandwagon whiny fans up at the end of the game today. The Penguins did not play their best game in terms of getting to their forecheck game. Part of the reason for that was the fact they were killing penalties a lot of the night, including two 5 on 3's. Their power play was horrible, 0 for 5, and gave up a short handed goal. That said, I like the compete level of the Penguins tonight, as they were physical with this team all night long, and hung in there to take the win despite being a bit off their game all night long. You can chalk this win up to Fleury making big save after big save, and Crosby doing what he does. On that note, Crosby had a goal and an assist to extend his scoring streak to 23 games, giving him 29 goals for the season. The other difference tonight was the addition of Michalek and Martin, who blocked shots and made big plays all night. Orpik and Letang were very physical, knocking bodies around all night. I truly despise everything about this team, and most especially the bulk of their fans, who whine and crew for every call, just like their softies Green and Semin. The fact that a good many of them cheered when Letang took a slap shot to the body and went down, then booed when he got up says all you need to know about that crowd. Period. A big two points for the Pens tonight! I cannot wait for the excuses we will hear next Wednesday night on 24/7, that should be very funny! By the way Yoko, we hate you too! A lot!

Pens win 5-2
The Penguins win tonight by hammering the Panthers early, then cruising the rest of the night. Seemed like they wanted to get this one in the books early so that they can be ready for those ball sacks from the capital. Crosby extends his streak to 22 games, they had balanced scoring, and close to within one point of NHL leading Philadelphia. Johnson and Asham injured with the dreaded lower body injury. Kill a Cap tomorrow night please!!!!

F the Caps!
Note to Craps and your fans-Pens have won 7 of the last 8 playoff series betwen our teams since 1991. We also have won 3 Stanley Cups in that span. Your owner, whiny chubby sleazy Peppi LePew lookalike. Our owner, NHL royalty. Your coach, fat, short, and pathetic except in the wing eating and hot dog eating contests. Our coach wins the Cup in year one. Enough said.

Pens beat Phoenix 6-1
The Penguins got back on the right track tonight after a two game skid, winning 6-1 against Phoenix. Malkin tied a career high with 5 points(2G and 3A), and Crosby added a goal and two assists to run his league point scoring streak to 21 games. This is one shy of the longest streak in the NHL since the lockout. How about this for symmetry? In the twenty game streak Crosby has 21 goals, and 21 assists for 42 points. Geno has gotten very hot with 5 goals in his 3 games since his return. I like the fact that the Pens also got secondary scoring with Letang adding a goal and an assist, and Cooke and Connor each adding a goal. Special teams were key as the referees must had a taste of Dave's Tip pet before the game, calling 8 penalties on the Pens, at least one of which(the Kunitz high stick on Upshall) was not even close, and many others including the delay of game on Fleury were odd and the types rarely called. The Pens killed off all 8 including two extended 5 on 3's. This was the chance for the Coyotes to take advantage of the gifts to get back in the game, but players like Dupuis, Cooke and Adams shut them down. The Pens' power play chipped in with 3 goals to make the special teams truly the difference tonight? Lost in the fireworks is the fact that Fleury held firm during the first period when Phoenix had 16 shots but no goals. This gave them the chance to stay in it, and ultimately blow the game open. In addition, Deryk Engelland dropped Taylor Pyatt and knocked him into next week during a fight in the third period. What was going through Pyatt's mind when he dropped the gloves with Engelland?? Well, it was Engelland's fist of course! The Flyers finally cooled down losing 5-0 tonight to Florida, leaving the Pens three points behind the Flyers with a game in hand and the same number of victories. The race in the Atlantic should be great this season!

24/7 Pens Caps a classic
HBO 24/7 is everything we were promised and more in my opinion. The inside look at two professional sports teams during the midst of their regular seasons was fascinating to me. The personalities of the players off the ice made for an interesting study, as well as some of the inner workings of the respective clubs and coaching staffs. To be fair, the first segment of the series chronicled the Penguins at the highpoint of their season, and the Caps at probably, but hopefully not, one of the lowest points in several years. This MAY account for some of the differences in attitude, demeanor and general behavior, we will see in segment two as it will chronicle the Pens after losing two divisional games on back to back nights. I suspect however that, generally speaking you are seeing why a team so loaded with talent has underachieved historically during the heat of the playoffs. I truly believe that one of the main reasons this current team has underachieved when it matters most is the fat little butterball behind the bench. I have stated to some friends and readers that if you watch Boudreau over react to any sort of adversity, you can see it translate to the team. His stable of talented forwards during the regular season can pump in goals at an alarming rate, but when the playoffs come, defenses tighten, opposing defenses try to maim you, or throw any part of their bodies in front of any shot you have to have the composure to work through that, and adjust your game accordingly. You cannot panic, when your gameplan is not working, or the opposing team takes a two goal lead. Go back and watch playoff tape of the Caps, and watch that fat little dumpling implode at any sign of adverstiy. Watch his profanity laced tirades that pretty much say nothing but we should do better right now, and watch the glazed over look in the eyes of the players. The tension that starts with the whining of Leonsis, is supported by McPhee, and is hammered home by Boudreau and Evason is palpable. And it creates a suffocating pressure that translates into the tight play of the players. Add to that the lack of true leadership that core players such as Mike Green and Alexander Semin bring to the dance, and you can see how when the stakes get high, this team has wilted under pressure. If I am the Caps I fire Boudreau and Evason, bring in a younger more cerebral coach and then I trade Mike Green and Alex Semin for some guys with a bit less talent maybe, but a lot more character. Both would bring handsome returns for the right team who already has character guys but needs a touch more skill.........Hey, Green has been the highest scoring defenseman in the league for the past three years, and was not really even close to making Team Canada for the 2010 Olympics. That speaks volumes about what others think of the kids overall value.
Some random thoughts-The Caps obsession with the Pens is both sad and counterproductive, They make reference to the Pens 4 times in this segment, the Pens mention the Caps, uh, never.
Ovechkin in his banana hammock, double tramp stamp, and diamond encrusted 8 necklace was interesting if nauseating. A pretty self absorbed, me guy if you ask me.
Ovechkin responding to a referees explanation of a cross check opening a huge gash on an opponents face leading to the ejection of Semin with, "Maybe he has sensitive skin" was funny as shit!
Boudreau being interviewed with barbeque all over his face was priceless, particularly on the heels of the footage of him in his red Craps PJ's and a stomach that looked like he swallowed the Kettler Center!
Mike Green on the trainers table looking like he might cry over his MCL sprain did not make me gain respect for the guy.
The prank with the furniture of Lovejoy and Connor being put in the hallway was priceless, and more so when Lovejoy says we will find out who did this and do nothing about it!
Duper saying hi to everyone, but Fuck you Geno made me roll.
Letang telling Engelland to fight somebody tough next time after his bout with Orr was a classic as was Fleury telling the cameras that Max is a douche in obvious reference to Talbot calling Ovie a douche this summer.
Loved the game by game scoring sheet the Pens use on each player, and that scene was priceless to me;
Hey, the truest words spoken on the first run was that teams are rarely as bad as they look when they are down, nor as good as they look when they are on a win streak, but either way this is must watch TV for any sport fan, and especially a puckhead. My only criticism at this point would be that the footage they are showing does not adequately showcase the brutality and sheer speed and athleticism of the game. They need to show case this more, as I cannot see how a fan of any sport that loves speed, contact, and sheer will could not come away loving hockey.

Two new streaks......
A new streak has started, in fact two.....Geno has goals in two straight games and the Pens have lost two in a row.......not much to say, they had a good two period game, then melted down after a couple of questionable calls...the team on the streak works through those calls, and finds a way to win.........losing Kunitz really made this a one line team the past two nights, so it is a good time for a break. Crosby extends his scoring streak with assists the past two games on all of Genos goals, but had no shots on goal. I don't like the deference being shown v taking the shot when you have it, but hey who the hell cares what I think?

One streak ends, another continues
The Penguins winning streak came to a halt in Philadelphia tonight 3-2. Both teams played a pretty good game, but the Penguins took too many penalties tonight. An undisciplined penalty by Geno led to the game winning power play goal by my boy Fartsmell tonight. Hey, it was bound to happen, and despite a really bad first goal by Fleury, and some undisciplined play this game could have gone either way. The two hottest teams in the league clashed tonight, and the Pens lose a close one to their cross state rivals. Crosby did not score a goal, but continued his point scoring streak with 2 assists on Geno's goals. Goligoski and Letang added assists for the Pens as well. It was great to see Malkin score two goals, but his overall play still bothers me. Bad passes at the blueline and undisciplined penalites. You can see the difference Kunitz makes on Crosby's line with his straight line play, and puck retrieving skills in the corners. I definitely wanted the Pens to win this game badly, but they lost to a good team. If both teams stay healthy, and the Pens get Staal going, I would not be surprised to see the Eastern Conference Finals between these two teams. The Flyers have four good lines and a strong defense, the Penguins are not as deep at this point, but have star power. Getting Staal back and a healthy Kunitz will balance our scoring depth, and our defensive corps is one of the few that is as good as Philadelphia's. A playoff series between these two teams would be unreal! Well, it is time to start a new streak tomorrow night against the Rags, and please somebody do a number on Dooshbinsky!

Pens-Flyers
The teams don't like each other. The fans generally don't like each other. It is only mid December, but this one feels bigger than that. At this point in time the Penguins sit atop the NHL with a 21-8-2 record and 44 points. The Flyers are right behind them with 43 points and a 19-7-5 record. The winner remains atop the conference and league, the loser falls to 4th in the conference despite having more points than either Montreal who leads the Northeast or Washington who leads the Southeast. With the possible exception of Washington, no group of fans in the NHL would rather see Crosby's point scoring streak end on their ice than those loveable Flyers fanatics. They are also a creative bunch, who have spent a lot of time coming with creative chants like, uh, Crosby sucks! Then there is all time favorite, Crosby sucks, and finally, their best of all, Crosby sucks! At the same time, there is no team that Crosby torches more than the Flyers, so something will have to give! Should be as good a hockey game as one could expect in mid-December. And the picture above? Enough said!!
Pens beat Buffalo 5-2
The Penguins recorded their 12th straight victory in a hard fought game, that was much tougher than the 5-2 score would indicate. Alex Goligoski netted his 4th game winner of the season tonight, tying a franchise record for GWG from a defenseman. Crosby continued his point scoring streak with an assist on said goal, running that streak to 18 games. Dustin Jeffrey, despite being miscast on the fourth line produced a goal and an assist in his first game of the season. An insurance goal by Rupp and an empty netter by Cooke closed out the scoring in a surprisingly nasty game between the Pens and the Sabres. Another game also that the Pens give up 2 or less goals. As for the Penguins defense, they are now 3rd in the league, giving up only 2.29 goals per game, and the two teams ahead of them have goaltenders ranked at the top of the league in save percentage with Tim Thomas of Boston at .954 and Carey Price at .935. The Pens are also 5th in the league in giving up shots per game at 28.7. Add to that Kris Letang is second on the team in scoring with 26 points, and he is +18, while Alex Goligoski is 5th on the team 16 points and is a +16. Add to that, he has four game winning goals on the season. As Paul Martin gets more acclimated, he will begin to challenge with some strong offensive numbers. Now we look forward to a big time clash with the equally hot Philadelphia Flyers. This is the type of game where the lack of scoring from the second line, and namely Evgeni Malkin has the chance to bite the Penguins in the backside. Go Pens!!

Streaks continue
The Pens win their 11th straight against Toronto, 5-2. Crosby scores 2 goals, making it 26 goals in 30 games, and 50 points. He is the first player since the lockout to score 50 points in 30 games. Dupuis combined with a red hot Kunitz to score a shorthanded goal, and Mark Letestu ended a long scoring drought with 2 goals of his own. Kunitz had 3 assists tonight. The game had 4 fights, with Engelland beating Orr again, Asham and Rupp each having a go with Komisarek, and Godard battering Rosehill. The Penguins defense was stifling for the first two periods, and the third line again looked strong. Tyler Kennedy has 8 points in his last ten games. Fleury is on a 12-0-1 streak while Crosby is on a 17 game scoring streak. Buffalo on Saturday night, lets keep the string alive.
