Kris Letang

Tanger's year was like a tale of two seasons. During the first half of the year, Letang got a lot of attention as a potential Norris Trophy candidate, and deservedly so. He also was voted in to his first NHL All-Star game as a result. During the second half of the season his offensive numbers died off, and at times he seemed to be scrambling on the ice. It seemed as if he was trying too hard to compensate for the loss of the teams two big stars. Still, he finished with career high 50 points, as well as a +15 while playing in all 82 games. Letang's speed, vision, and underrated physicality have made him a very good NHL defenseman since he entered the league. Add the scoring touch he showed in the first half of the season, and he could contend for the Norris Trophy on the Penguins blue line for years to come.
