Step One-Mission Accomplished

Step one of the mission was accomplished this evening! The Penguins finally got what I thought they deserved in Game 2........a victory. The Pens badly outshot the Caps, outhit the Caps, and generally outplayed the Caps......Still, the game was tied in regulation due to another stellar performance by Simeon Varlamov. There were a lot of things to like in this game for the Pens:

First, after a misplay by Fleury leading to an easy and EARLY goal by Ovechkin, the Pens steadily took control of the game . Second, the Pens got scoring from players other than Crosby, most notably Malkin. Malkin's goal, along with a goal by Fedotenko, and the winner by Letang gives us hope that the balance of this team is about to surface. Finally, I liked the way the Pens came out in OT. The game tying goal with little over a minute left could have been the type of last minute goal that would break a team down 2-0 in a series. Instead, as they did in Game 6 of the Flyers series, the Pens responded. Malkin almost ended the game twice before Letang finally delivered the game winner! By the way, Letang was nursing a shoulder injury, and was a potential scratch tonite...........Thank god he toughed it out and spared us another nite of Dooshay! Great job Pens, do it again Friday!
