Poor Effort, Do not deserve the point they got

Lip Service.....................that is what the Penguins were giving when they spoke of their desire to focus on taking the three home games this week prior to the Olympic break. Tonight facing a Rag team that is mediocre at its best, then played two periods without Gaborik who accounts for 25% of the Rangers goals, and short a defenseman the Pens should have taken two points and kept pace with the Senators, Flyers, and Devils. Instead the Pens gave up 37 shots, got smoked in the second period and scraped a point out of a game that was ripe for two.......in a Divisional and Conference race that is tightening up in the top 6 spots, home ice will likely will be won or lost by a point or two.....and the Pens seem to like giving points away......Crosby continues to carry the load breaking the 40 goal barrier for the first time in his career netting goals 40 and 41 tonight. I was really hopeful that the Pens would make a move to unload Fedotenko and/or another roster player to make a move for a solid defenseman and some additional snarl and chemistry change. I have to trust that Ray Shero has a couple of moves he is working on to address the areas of need. If the Pens organization is as deep as they like to think it is, then give up a pick for a winger who actually belongs in a top six position. Fedotenko has been awful in every way possible this year, and his 1.8M in salary opens some cap room, and I love Duper on a third or fourth line, but how many solid passes from Malkin can he shoot over the net before we make a move to get someone to finish for Geno? The Pens need to get in on Poni or Whitney in my opinion to maximize Geno, and a solid defenseman. Waive Skoula, bring up Lovejoy, move Feds for a pick if you have to give up picks to get Whitney..........Hey, I know you dont want to cut too deep into your prospect pool for playoff rentals like Whitney but a). You have to capitalize as often as possible during your "window of opportunity" as a legitimate contender, and the Pens window is NOW b). the organization seems loaded with solid top 9 type forwards, and mid level defense prospects, so use them to address your needs now.......
