We needed that one......a very entertaining game, and a game stolen by Marc Andre Fleury. Fleury, who started this game 33rd in the league in save percentage, and 20th in GAA stood tall and allowed the Penguins to get 2 points they really needed. He has been a very large part of the problem during this losing streak, but this is the second game out of the past three where he was outstanding. I hope that is a sign. Some other good signs included Goligoski rebounding from a HORRIBLE game Monday night, and Tyler Kennedy getting on the board. Crosby continued his lights out goal scoring pace with his 30th goal of the season, and the "old man" Big Bad Billy Guerin netted his 15th.
Maybe the single most important aspect of tonights game was the fact that the power play looked very good in its new configuration, moving the puck beautifully, and actually, yes you heard right, SCORING a power play goal! After going 0 for 6 on Monday, including a 5 on 3, it is nice to see a GWG come on the power play. To underscore what the PP means to the Penguins, they are 19-2 this season when they get a power play goal. You read that right! 19-2! They draw the most penalties in the NHL, and when they cannot take advantage of that, they give the other teams momentum, and encourage very aggressive play if there is no cost to the opponent for such play. The Penguins face a weak Edmonton team tomorrow night, and it would be huge if they can get two points tomorrow and get a little streak going. On another note, Cal Clusterfuck from the Wild is still talking smack about someone hurting Gonchar as a result of the elbow he delivered to Clusterfuck in Saturdays nite game. The photograph above fairly represents my thoughts on the matter! GO PENS!
