Pens the best right now?

Some more Pens numbers to crunch.....they have not allowed a power play goal in 9 games...the record I am told is 12. They have not allowed a power play goal in the last 32 attempts......the record I am told is 52. This will give us something more to watch over the next couple of games, but I probably just jinxed it! Also, on Home Ice this am Bill Clement stated that he feels that the Penguins are the best team in the league right now. His logic was as follows: The Pens started today tied for the most points in the league despite the fact that Jordan Staal has not played a game yet, Malkin has not played very well yet, and Fleury was horrible for the first part of the season. He further stated that of the Penguins 10 losses, 7 were by a single goal, meaning they easily could have more points. (if you look at one goal wins the same way it sure does water that down). It was nice to hear Clement say that, and the Pens have been fun to watch thus far, BUT, prior to this streak they were pretty average, and had looked like a disaster after giving up 5 third period goals on November 10 against the Bruins. So nearly three weeks go by, and now they are the best? Three more weeks and they can look pretty mediocre again, so lets not get overly excited. If Crosby cools off and Malkin does not pick it up they could really struggle again. I would also say that I will be more excited if a streak like this closes out March and April. The Flyers and Capitals have something to say on this issue as well, trust me. That said, the defense is meshing, Letang looks like a bonafide upper echelon defenseman, the goaltending came around, Crosby is kicking ass, secondary scoring is there, the third line is hot, the penalty kill is awesome, Staal will be back in a couple of weeks, the Winter Classic is one month away.............ride it while you can, as the roller coaster that is an NHL season will have more peaks and valleys between now and the end of the year....remind me too when I lose my marbles over the next streak of losses.
