One streak ends, another continues

The Penguins winning streak came to a halt in Philadelphia tonight 3-2. Both teams played a pretty good game, but the Penguins took too many penalties tonight. An undisciplined penalty by Geno led to the game winning power play goal by my boy Fartsmell tonight. Hey, it was bound to happen, and despite a really bad first goal by Fleury, and some undisciplined play this game could have gone either way. The two hottest teams in the league clashed tonight, and the Pens lose a close one to their cross state rivals. Crosby did not score a goal, but continued his point scoring streak with 2 assists on Geno's goals. Goligoski and Letang added assists for the Pens as well. It was great to see Malkin score two goals, but his overall play still bothers me. Bad passes at the blueline and undisciplined penalites. You can see the difference Kunitz makes on Crosby's line with his straight line play, and puck retrieving skills in the corners. I definitely wanted the Pens to win this game badly, but they lost to a good team. If both teams stay healthy, and the Pens get Staal going, I would not be surprised to see the Eastern Conference Finals between these two teams. The Flyers have four good lines and a strong defense, the Penguins are not as deep at this point, but have star power. Getting Staal back and a healthy Kunitz will balance our scoring depth, and our defensive corps is one of the few that is as good as Philadelphia's. A playoff series between these two teams would be unreal! Well, it is time to start a new streak tomorrow night against the Rags, and please somebody do a number on Dooshbinsky!
